One highlight after another
Plays, concerts, films, children's entertainment and many different special events - visitors to Jena's Cultural Arena festival can experience all of these things, and at the heart of the festival are musical events with performances by acclaimed German and international musicians from a wide range of musical genres. This two-month summer festival really does have something for everyone.

There are many sides to the university town of Jena in the state of Thuringia. Modern architecture and high-tech companies sit side by side with historic monuments that reflect and embody Jena's history and traditions. Jena's skyline is dominated by the imposing JenTower, the town's most famous landmark, and the late-Gothic municipal church of St. Michael. Other historical buildings worth visiting include the old town hall, the Johannis Gate and its gunpowder tower, the Collegium Jenense and the main university building.

The town of Jena in the wonderful Saale valley is a major centre for art and culture. Famous poets and philosophers have always been drawn to the town and there are still many reminders of them here. These include buildings from the romantic era such as the Romanticist House and Schiller's summer house. The Theaterhaus theatre, the Kurz & Klein cabaret theatre and the Harald Seime mime theatre host a wide range of cultural attractions.
